2010 TV Choice Final Nominations

The final nominations for the 2010TV Choice awards have been revealed, with Doctor Who and Torchwood both receiving nominations. Both Matt Smith and John Barrowman have been nominated in the Best Actor category for their roles in Doctor Who and Torchwood. Karen Gillan has also been nominated for in the Best Actress category for her role in Doctor Who.

Doctor Who has been nominated in the Best Family Drama series category while Torchwood: Children of Earth has been nominated for Best Drama Series. Voting for the 2010 TV Choice awards can be found here and will finish at midnight on Friday 9th of July.

The Big Bang Overnight Ratings

Doctor Who managed to achieve an audience of 5.1 million when The Big Bang was broadcast last night according to BARB. The Big Bang was the second highest watched programme of the day, being beaten by the USA v Ghana World Cup match which achieved an audience 5.7 million. Doctor Who managed to achieve an average audience on BBC One of 4.6 million with an additional 0.5 million over on the BBC’s HD channel.

Up against BBC 2’s coverage of Wimbledon, Doctor Who secured a 31% share of the television audience. Doctor Who is currently the seventeenth most programme of the week with only todays viewing figures to be confirmed. Final viewing figures for The Big Bang will be released by BARB within the next ten days with the ratings for The Pandorica Opens due soon.

Blood of the Cybermen Released

The BBC have now released the second instalment of Doctor Who: The Adventures Games, Blood of the Cybermen by Phil Ford for PC users. Blood of the Cybermen features the Doctor and Amy travelling to the Arctic where members of survey team are transforming, and digging up something from beneath the ice that has been waiting for thousands of years. Blood of the Cybermen will be made available for Mac users on the 30th of June.

PC users can download Blood of the Cybermen here on the Doctor Who website. Versions of Blood of the Cybermen and City of the Daleks should be available soon for people outside the United Kingdom and Ireland to purchase. The BBC haven’t confirmed when the third instalment of The Adventures Games will be released.

The Big Bang Tonight!

Matt Smith’s first series as the Doctor will conclude its run later tonight with the broadcast of the second part of the series finale; The Big Bang. For the past thirteen weeks Matt Smith has proved that’s he was the perfect actor to take over from David Tennant as the Doctor. The Big Bang will of course be our last new Doctor Who episode to be shown until Christmas but the Doctor will be dropping in on Sarah Jane later this year for one story. Filming for the 2010 Christmas Special and series six begins in Cardiff with Matt Smith within the next month.

The Big Bang will be broadcast by the BBC at 6:05pm on BBC One and BBC HD followed by Doctor Who Confidential; Out of Time over on BBC Three and BBC HD. The Big Bang will be released with Vincent and the Doctor, The Lodger and The Pandorica Opens on DVD and Blu-Ray on the 6th of September.

Preview of Tomorrows Doctor Who Confidential

Digital Spy have uploaded a preview for tomorrows episode of Doctor Who Confidential consisting of Matt Smith and Karen Gillan meeting fans at the American screening of episode one. This episode will also go behind the scenes of the series finale; The Big Bang. The Big Bang will be broadcast tomorrow evening at 6:05pm on BBC One and BBC HD followed by Doctor Who Confidential on BBC Three and BBC HD.

2010 San Diego Comic Con Exclusive: 11th Doctor and Dalek Scientist

Underground Toys have revealed one of their upcoming figure set exclusives for the 2010 San Diego Comic Con featuring the Doctor and the Dalek Scientist. The Dalek Scientist made its first and only appearance earlier this year in Victory of the Daleks as part of the new Dalek paradigm. The Doctor in this Underground Toys set features him in is burgundy shirt and braces as he appeared in Flesh and Stone earlier this year.

Other Doctor Who figure set exclusives rumoured for the 2010 San Diego Comic Con include a The End of Time Regeneration set, Planet of Fire Fifth Doctor and Master set and more. Full details regarding this San Diego Comic Con exclusive can be found here on the Underground Toys website.

Today has seen the official release of the latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine for the price of £4.20 around the United Kingdom and Ireland. Issue four hundred and twenty three of Doctor Who Magazine comes in plastic wallet to contain the exclusive double sized poster free within. Titles for Series Four of The Sarah Jane Adventures

The Sarah Jane Adventures returns this Autumn for a fourth series and now the titles of the stories have been confirmed in the latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine. Matt Smith will be appearing in the third story of the series titled Death of the Doctor which has been written by Russell T Davies. Katy Manning who played the Doctor’s companion Jo Grant from Terror of the Autons to The Green Death will also be returning in that story.

The BBC have released the first preview clip for the upcoming series finale; The Big Bang which will br broadcast this Saturday. The Big Bang is the concluding part to The Pandorica Opens which featured the return of Alex Kingston alongside series regulars Matt Smith and Karen Gillan. The Big Bang will be broadcast this Saturday on BBC One and BBC HD at 6:05pm followed by Doctor Who Confidential on BBC Three and BBC HD.

Adventures Games #2: Blood of the Cybermen

The BBC have confirmed that the second instalment of The Adventure Games series is Blood of the Cybermen by Phil Ford and will be available Saturday. Blood of the Cybermen will be made available for download on the BBC’s official Doctor Who site following the series finale, The Big Bang at 7pm. The new game also sees the return of an adversary of the Doctor’s that hasn’t been seen on screen since the early Tom Baker years.

The BBC have updated the official site with new content for Blood of the Cybermen including video highlights of an exclusive launch event for the game which happened earlier today in Glasgow. Also been uploaded is a new game trailer for the story which can be seen here on the site plus a concept art gallery and a screenshot gallery for Blood of the Cybermen. An internal version, for people outside the United Kingdom and Ireland, of both Blood of the Cybermen and City of the Daleks should be released sometime soon.

Final Ratings for The Lodger

Doctor Who managed to achieve an official viewing figure of 6.44 million for The Lodger when originally shown on Saturday the Twelfth of June according to BARB. The Lodger pulled an average audience of 5.98 million when shown on BBC One which made it the sixth most watched programme on BBC One that week. Meanwhile over on the BBC’s HD channel The Lodger managed to pull in an audience of 0.46 million

In other news, The Pandorica Opens managed to achieve an Appreciation Index of 88, the highest score of the current series beating The Time of Angels and The Lodger. The BBC Three repeat of The Pandorica Opens last night managed to pull in an audience of 0.47 million.

Doctor Who Magazine chief editor Tom Spilsbury has revealed the cover for the upcoming issue of Doctor Who Magazine on Facebook. Issue four hundred and twenty three of Doctor Who Magazine comes in plastic wallet to contain the exclusive double sized poster free within. This magazine features an exclusive interview with Matt Smith and Karen Gillan plus comedian James Cordon who appeared as Craig Owens in The Lodger.

More details regarding this issue of Doctor Who Magazine will be published when the press release is made available later this week. Issue four hundred and twenty three will be released this Thursday priced £4.20 around the United Kingdom and Ireland.

The Pandorica Opens Overnight Viewing Figures

Doctor Who managed to achieve an audience of 5.9 million for The Pandorica Opens when broadcast last night according to BARB. The Pandorica Opens faced competition last night from the Cameroon v Denmark match in the 2010 Fifa World Cup shown over on ITV1. Doctor Who managed to achieve an average audience of 5.4 million on BBC One with an additional 0.5 million over on the BBC’s HD channel.

Up against ITV1’s coverage of the Cameroon v Denmark match, Doctor Who secured a 31.5% share of the television audience. Doctor Who was the highest rated programme of the day beating its ITV1 competition meaning it is currently the fourteenth most watched programme of the week with only todays viewing figures to be confirmed. Final viewing figures for The Pandorica Opens will be released by BARB within the next ten days.

Details for Second Adventure Game

The BBC have revealed details regarding the second instalment of Doctor Who: The Adventures Games rumoured to be titled The Winter of Terror. The first instalment of the Doctor Who: The Adventure Games series, City of the Daleks, is still available to download from the official Doctor Who site. No official release date hasn’t been given for this latest instalment in the Doctor Who: The Adventure Games but the BBC are holding an event in Glasgow next week.

The Big Bang Broadcast Time/Length - Spoilers

The BBC have confirmed the official broadcast time for episode thirteen of the current series; The Big Bang by Steven Moffat. The Big Bang is the concluding part of the fifth series two part finale which begins this Saturday with The Pandorica Opens at 6:40pm. The episode has a total running time of 55 minutes and will be broadcast from 6:05pm to 7pm on Saturday the 26th of June on BBC One and BBC HD. Doctor Who Confidential will follow on BBC Three and BBC HD.

The BBC have released an exclusive preview clip for The Pandorica Opens on their official Doctor Who website. Other video features on the Doctor Who website include a preview trailer for the finale, an introduction from Karen Gillan to The Pandorica Opens an image gallery for the story. The Pandorica Opens will be broadcast this Saturday at 6:40pm on BBC One and BBC HD followed by Doctor Who Confidential on BBC Three and BBC HD.

Radio Times Cover for The Pandorica Opens

The latest issue of the Radio Times, beginning Saturday the 19th of June, features another Doctor Who cover for this Saturdays episode. This issue of the Radio Times features an exclusive interview with actress Karen Gillan about playing Amy Pond alongside Matt Smith as the Doctor. Also included in this issue is an interview with former Doctor Who actor Christopher Eccleston who reveals why he left the programme after only one year.

Previous episodes that have received covers this year have been The Eleventh Hour and Victory of the Daleks. This issue, priced £1.10, will only be available until next Tuesday when the next issue will be released featuring an interview with Matt Smith.

Final Ratings for Episode Ten

Doctor Who managed to achieve an audience of 6.76 million for Vincent and the Doctor, originally shown on the Saturday the 5th of June, according to BARB. Vincent and the Doctor pulled in an average audience of 6.29 million on BBC One where it was the second most watched programme on the BBC that week. An additional 0.47 million meanwhile watched Vincent and the Doctor over on BBC HD.

Final figures for ITV1’s HD Channel aren’t available meaning a full top thirty programmes of the week can't be calculated. Vincent and the Doctor stands in 18th for the week without the HD figures included but if the HD figures are included it actually rises to 17th place. Final figures for last Saturday’s episode; The Lodger will be revealed by BARB next week.

Digital Spy Interview with Karen Gillan - Spoilers

Digital Spy have recently uploaded an exclusive video interview with Karen Gillan regarding the upcoming series finale. Doctor Who’s fifth series continues this Saturday was The Pandorica Opens and then concludes the following Saturday with The Big Bang both by Steven Moffat. The BBC have confirmed that Karen Gillan will return to Doctor Who for its next series alongside Matt Smith with filming set to begin within the next few weeks.

Overnight Ratings for The Lodger

Doctor Who managed to achieve an audience of 4.6 million for The Lodger when it was broadcast last night according to BARB. The Lodger faced strong competition last night from the first England Football match in the 2010 Fifa World Cup shown over on ITV1. Doctor Who managed to achieve an average audience of 4.31 million on BBC One with an additional 0.25 million over on the BBC’s HD channel.

Up against ITV1’s coverage of the England v USA match, Doctor Who could only secure a 22.3% share of the television audience. Doctor Who was the fourth highest programme of the day being also beaten by the Argentina v Nigeria and James Cordon’s World Cup Live meaning Doctor Who is currently the 35th most watched of the week. Final viewing figures for The Lodger will be released by BARB within the next ten days.

Trailers for The Pandorica Opens

Following tonight’s broadcast debut of The Lodger the first preview trailer was shown for series five, episode twelve; The Pandorica Opens. The Pandorica Opens by Steven Moffat features the return of Alex Kingston as the mysterious River Song alongside series regulars Matt Smith and Karen Gillan. Earlier this evening the BBC shown the television trailer for The Pandorica Opens for the first time. The Pandorica Opens will be broadcast at 6:40pm on BBC One and BBC HD next Saturday with The Big Bang the following Saturday.

Eleven Doctors Action Figure Box Set

Images have now been release of Character Option’s upcoming Eleven Doctor’s action figure box set release. The Eleven Doctor’s action figure box set marks the first time that the Eighth Doctor, played by Paul McGann in the Television Movie, has been released as an action figure. All of the other Doctor’s have been previously released by Character Options on their own and should still be available. However, the First, Second, Third, Fourth, Sixth and Eighth Doctor action figures represented in this box set are currently exclusive to the box set. It is unknown when the Eighth Doctor will be released separately by Character Options.

This box set is currently rumoured for release at the price of £49.99 in August.

The Lodger Tonight

Doctor Who’s fifth series continues tonight with its eleventh episode; The Lodger. British Comedian James Cordon guests stars as Craig Owens alongside Daisy Haggard as Sophie in The Lodger, written by Gareth Roberts, alongside series regulars Matt Smith and Karen Gillan. The Lodger will be broadcast on BBC One and BBC HD at 6:45pm followed by Doctor Who Confidential: Extra Time over on BBC Three and BBC HD at 7:30pm.

There’s a house on Aickman road, and a staircase that people go up, but never down, as the time-travelling drama continues. To solve the mystery of the man upstairs, the Doctor faces his greatest challenge yet – he must pass himself off as a perfectly normal human being, and share a flat with Craig Owens.

The Doctor is played by Matt Smith, Amy Pond by Karen Gillan and Craig Owens by James Corden. This episode is written by Gareth Roberts.

Hello. Welcome to the new version of Doctor Who Hideout. I apologise for disappearing over five weeks it was a situation which couldn’t be controlled. Hopefully with my GCSE Exams nearly over I’ll be able to restore at least some dignity for this site.
